Regular Activities

While our focus is on small friendship groups, we do like to hold larger group activities to bring different groups of friends together. This gives everyone a chance to meet new people and interact with those they wouldn’t normally spend time with.

As these groups are larger than normal, we charge at £8 an hour for everyone even those with Direct Payment funding from the local authority.

Some of our regular activities

Freedom

Freedom is an additional needs nightclub that has all the features of a night out but is a safe and inclusive environment which cares for and offers support for it’s patrons. We have been supporting our clients to attend Freedom nights since they first opened their doors over 6 years ago. It is one of our most favourite nights and we have developed a wonderful relationship with Paul & Kathy who run Freedom.

The night is held every Wednesday 6:30pm – 10pm at PopWorld, based right in the centre of Southend. Entrance is just £5, and carers go free.

It is an amazing community which we love being a part of and will continue to support anyone who wishes to have the nightclub experience in their life.

Southend United

We have been supporting service users to watch Southend United play football since the charity was founded almost 10 years ago. Southend United is a great local institution that has fallen on hard times recently, but our support has never wavered, and we continue to go to every single game.

The reason is our service user’s love it. They love the opportunity to see live professional football up close and personal. There is nothing better than meeting up with your mates at the weekend, having a burger/pie and watching your local team fight it out to win over 90 minutes.

If you’re football mad it’s definitely something you should try with us!

Film Night

Who doesn’t love watching a film with your friends! Every month Friends and Places Together holds a film night to give our service users the big screen experience in a more relaxed and familiar setting. We have our own high-quality projector and screen which gives that authentic cinema atmosphere all in our centre.

While the film is great, we also provide food and drinks, as no movie experience is complete without snacks. Often, we will do Pizza and Garlic bread or burgers and hot dogs while always providing popcorn for whoever wants it.

Our Film nights run on Friday’s 6pm – 9pm with the date subject to change, but we will always let everyone know when this is happening.

The best thing about film night is you get a say for what we watch next. After every film night we discuss as a group what we would like to see next.

If you love your films, be sure to have a try of our amazing film nights!

Karaoke

Our karaoke nights are some of the most fun we have at Friends and Places Together. The chance to have your go singing your favourite songs with all your friends there is always a right laugh.

Whether you can sing or not, we give everyone the opportunity to express themselves through song in a non-judgmental and fun environment. Occasionally you may even catch a couple of the staff singing!

If you have a love of music and want to sing your heart out with friends then give our karaoke nights a go!
